Responding to Locate Requests

Underground Infrastructure Owners (UIOs) are responsible for responding to locate requests within the required timeline:

  • Single Address Requests must be completed within 5 business days.
  • Advanced Requests for projects involving multiple addresses or larger work areas must be completed within 10 business days.

Once a locate has been completed or cleared, UIOs must update 360 Feedback within 3 business days.

Responding to Design & Planning Requests

Design & Planning Requests provide available infrastructure records to support early project planning, design, estimating, and coordination before excavation begins. These requests are for planning purposes only. They do not provide valid locate paperwork and do not authorize excavation.

Participation in Design & Planning Requests is voluntary for UIOs and is not required under the Act.

UIOs that participate may provide available infrastructure records to support planning. UIOs that do not participate may need to be contacted directly for planning information.

360 Feedback

360 Feedback is a web-based tool that allows Underground Infrastructure Owners to update the status of locate requests.

It also allows excavators to check the status of their requests and find contact information for the UIOs notified on their locate request.

Keeping Locate Statuses Current

Accurate and timely updates in 360 Feedback help reduce confusion, support safe excavation, and help excavators understand when all required locate responses have been received.

Delayed, incomplete, or incorrect updates can create project delays, miscommunication, safety risks, and compliance concerns.
